A convivial club that gets you job

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) About 5,000 Indians educated in France have come together to form a network to help members get jobs and students financial aid to study in that country.

Called IFAN (Indo-French Alumni Network), the convivial club consists of students who have undertaken all or part of their higher education in prestigious French institutes and universities.

The network's dedicated Internet site, hosted by the French Embassy in its website www.edufrance.in, offers space for discussion, information and mutual help.

It will organise seminars to promote commercial opportunities for business in France and help members find jobs.

Resumes will be put on the website, which will be accessible by companies or recruiters.

The network will provide information about educational programmes, and also help meritorious and needy students to go to France for studies and research through financial aid and scholarships.

It will also help them in getting a visa.

Researchers in India and France will find the network useful in developing their skills in science and technology.

The network will promote French culture, cuisine, 'art de vivre' to create a better understanding of French culture and tradition.

A directory of the alumni for the future students from either country will also be created.

Nine lorries seized for illegally transporting hay

Madikeri, Karnataka, Mar 11 (UNI) Nine lorries, illegally transporting hay to neighbouring Kerala, were seized at Virajpet in the bordering Kodagu district of Karnataka. Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, who recently visited the Kodagu-Kerala border, found the regular transport of hay without any permission, even though a new law restricted its inter-state transport. He immediately instructed the taluk police officials to stop the movement. However, the sudden enforcement has hit the farmers hard as they were regularly selling hay to.....

Company Secretaries' exam results out

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The Institute of Company Secretaries today declared the results of the examinations held in December 2006. The results along with subject-wise marks are available on the institute's website -- www.icsi.edu. These would also be sent through e-mail to the students who had registered their requests on the website. The next examination of Company Secretaries for foundation, intermediate and final courses will be held from June 2 to June 10. The last date for receipt of enrolment.....

Suitcase creates flutter

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) An unclaimed suitcase created a flutter among the security personnel, visitors, and airport authorities at the departure area of Kamaraj Domestic Airport here today. The abandoned suitcase, which had been there for quite a long time was noticed by the CISF personnel who informed their seniors, sources said. The bomb detection squad of Bureau of Civil Avitation Security and local police rushed to the spot and removed the suitcase with utmost care. They kept the suitcase in.....
