15 security personnel killed in ambush in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) Fourteen Indian Reserve Battalion personnel and a policeman were killed and eight others injured in an ambush by suspected militants at Zouzangte village here today.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who met the injured at the JN hospital, also visited the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where the bodies of the jawans were kept.

The Chief Minister said it was an act of ''cowardice'' and condemned the attack. Other Cabinet ministers, DGP, Manipur, AK Parashar and other senior police and civil officials also visited RIMS and JN hospital.

Ten injured in stampede in Bengal

Baharampore, Feb 24 (UNI) At least ten people, two of them women, were injured in a stampede here in Murshidabad district today. Police said the incident occurred when a large number of people tried to enter the field to have a glimpse of the armament, which were on display. Police were forced to resort to a lathicharge to control the swelling crowd, who poured in from every nook and cranny of the district from late last night for an entry into.....

RIL to raise $2bln via ECB

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd will raise two-billion dollars through External Commercial Borrowings to finance its capital expenditure plan for oil and natural gas exploration. The company's board which met today accorded its approval to raise further equity by way of preferential issue of 12 crore warrants ti the promoters. While an amount equal to 10 per cent of the price will be paid on allotment of the warrants, the remaining 90 per cent.....

Convergence of perception among countries on Doha talks: Nath

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath has said there was a growing "convergence of perception" among the South-South countries as countries begin to re-engage in reviving the stalled multilateral trade talks at Geneva next week. "As the centre of gravity of economic activity shifts", developing countries like India were realising they must guard against non-tariff barriers such as anti-dumping laws, phytosanitary standards and even packaging used by the developed countries to reject export of items.....
