Workshop on higher studies abroad on Mar 3

Kozhikode, Feb 24 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), will organise a workshop on ''Opportunities for higher Studies Abroad'' here on March 3.

The objective of the programme was to disseminate critical information on post graduate and research studies to SC/ST professional/post graduates from Kerala aspiring to pursue higher studies in universities and institutions abroad, a release from IIM-K said.

Representatives from United States Educational Foundation of India and British Council will make presentations on prospects of higher studies in UK and the US.

Resource persons from a wide spectrum, including representatives from various organisations connected with higher studies abroad, representatives from banking industry and the IIM-K faculty members will also address the workshop, the release added.

Accused tied to tree and burnt

Balaghat, MP, Mar 7 (UNI) A man who murdered a youth over a trivial issue, at this district's Samadpuri village, was beaten with staffs and burnt alive after being tied to a tree by villagers. ''Following a dispute over a bull race, Chandrashekhar stabbed Bhuvaneshwar in the neck with a pair of scissors. A mob caught the accused at his home. A deputy inspector-general and other officers rushed to the spot. An additional police force was also sent,'' said Inspector-General Anvesh.....

Youth jumps to death before train

Farrukhabad, Mar 7 (UNI) A youth committed suicide by jumping in front of the Kanpur-Farrukhabad passenger train here today. Jaichand (25) -- a resident of Badhaua village -- jumped before the train at Nekpur Chaurasi Church railway line under Kotwali police station area. The reason behind the crime remains unknown, police said. The body has been sent for autopsy. UNI.....

Art of Living plans yatra against female foeticide in Punjab

Jalandhar, Feb 24 (UNI) The Art of Living foundation will undertake a campaign 'Beti Sneh Sanjivni Yatra' against female foeticide in Punjab, which has the poorest female child sex ratio in the country. ''The yatra, with United Nations Population Fund, will cover 17 towns in the districts of Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Mansa, Bathinda and Kapurthala, which are the worst-affected districts of Punjab,'' Dr Richa Chopra from Art of Living foundation and Ms Urmila Bendre from United Nations Population Fund jointly informed.....
