Ten injured in stampede in Bengal

Baharampore, Feb 24 (UNI) At least ten people, two of them women, were injured in a stampede here in Murshidabad district today.

Police said the incident occurred when a large number of people tried to enter the field to have a glimpse of the armament, which were on display.

Police were forced to resort to a lathicharge to control the swelling crowd, who poured in from every nook and cranny of the district from late last night for an entry into the field.

The injured have been hospitalised.

Details were awaited.

Reservations for Attari Exp now on PRS upto 15 days in advance

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) In an effort to streamline things after the Sunday night tragedy on the Attari special train, reservation to the 4001 Delhi-Attari Link Express can now be done 15 days in advance in place of reservation available only on the day of the journey. This train would now run with eight ''fully reserved'' coaches in place of four sleeper class reserved and ten general unreserved compartments, a Northern Railway statement said today. MP CM seeks additional Central aid to develop Chitrakoot

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today sought an additional central financial assistance of Rs 20 crore for the development of Chitrakoot, a tourist spot and a place of religious importance. The Chief Minister met Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni here and urged her to increase the central financial assistance to Rs 25 crores for developing Chitrakoot. The Centre has already sanctioned Rs five crore for Chitrakoot. Mr Chouhan pointed out that Chitrakoot was one.....

Stringent steps needed to curb terrorism: Forward Bloc

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc today castigated the UPA government for its ''failure to curb terrorism'' in the country. ''In all the incidents (Bomb blasts in Maharashtra, J&K, and fireblast in Samjhauta Express) serious lapses of security arrangements have been noticed. The government should take stringent measures to curb terrorism,'' Forward Bloc General Secretary Debabrata Biswas said giving details of the party's Central Committee meeting.
