Start Gojri news in Kashmir to counter Pak propganda: TRCF

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF) has demanded a news bulletin in the Gojri language to counter Pakistani 'propaganda' on PTV World.

Secretary of the TRCF Dr Javaid Rahi, in a fax to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanded a Gojri news bulletin from Doordarshan Kendra in Srinagar and Jammu.

He said this will help to counter the PTV Gori News Bulletin on PTV World, telecast daily at 1700 hours and other propaganda programmes.

He said Pakistan Radio has also geared up its propaganda in news and current affair programs in Gojri language to misguide the population. It needs to be countered before it is too late, he said, expressing anger over the marginalisation of Gojri Language over the ''Kashir Channel'' of Doordarshan.

In another fax to Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting P R Dasmunshi, he alleged that Kashmir channel has failed to make programmes in the Dogri language as per the ratio of their population and rich cultural heritage of Gujjars.

Dr Rahi has demanded a three hour daily Gojri programme on the ''Kashmir Channel''.
