Silver 9-1/2 mths high, gold rises

Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) Spot silver today edged up to 9-1/2 months high by Rs 245 per kg and gold rose by Rs 75 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange, Silver fineness opened at 9-1/2 months hihg at Rs 20,720 per kg and closed at Rs 20,715 per kg with a massive gain of Rs 245 from its yesterday's close.

In London, the white metal also inched up at 14.20/14.58 per troy ounce against USD 12.90/13.90 per troy ounce in New York.

Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) opened high at Rs 9,795 and Rs 9,845 per ten gm on good demand.

Later, the yellow metal closed at the same level with a gain of Rs 75 each from its last close.

In London, the yellow metal moved upwards at USD 680.80/683.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 678.40/680.30 per troy ounce in New York on Friday.

Following are the spot Silver and Gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 20,715 (20,470), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,795 (9,720), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,845 (9,770).

Both the precious metal hiked by Rs 220 each during the week ended February 24 on the Bombay Bullion Exchange.
