Rs 20,000 looted from school

Surat, Feb 24 (UNI) Robbers looted Rs 20,000 from a school after beating up the watchman yesterday.

Police said three miscreants entered the Ratan Vidyamandir Devjipura School in Sonagadh taluka and beat up the watchman, Ramsingh Gamit, and later tied him to a pillar.

The three, then, made away with Rs 20,000 that was kept in the school's office.

Gold and silver worth 17 lakhs looted

Gandhidham, Gujarat Feb 24 (UNI) As many as ten to fifteen unidentified miscreants robbed gold and silver worth Rs 17 lakhs from a goldsmith who was returning home from his jewellery shop in the town last night. Police sources said the miscreants, who came on motorbikes, had intercepted the goldsmith travelling on his two-wheeler at Sector five road. Court slashes maintenance for kid by Rs 100

Akola, Feb 24 (UNI) A local sessions court has reduced the maintenance of a three-year-old kid by Rs 100, on the basis that both the father and mother of the child are earning members of the family, while allowing the revision plea filed by the father. According to the decision, the kid will now get Rs 400 as maintenance instead of Rs 500, official sources said. GPCC nominated Chairmen of various committees

Ahmedabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today announced several appointments on various commitees. GPCC sources said Narhari Amin, former Deputy Chief Minister has been nominated as Chairman of Campaigning Committee, Siddharth Patel nominated as Chairman of Publicity Committee and Arvind Sanghvi as Chairman of the Manifesto Committee while Rajkumar Gupta will be the Treasurer.
