Rains make Rajasthan cold and damp again

Jaipur, Feb 24 (UNI) There has been a turn around in Rajasthan's weather with the cold wave becoming active once again due to western disturbance and the cyclonic north-easterlies.

A thick cloud cover, hailstorm and rain at some places have made the weather cold and damp. Ganganagar saw a dip of 3 degree Celsius today, mapping 7.8 degree.

The state capital measured 16 degree Celsius, two degree up from yesterday but the cold winds forced people to bring out their woolen clothes again. Kota experienced rainfall while a hailstorm and heavy rains hit Jodhpur today.

According to met office, Rawatbhata recorded 3.8 mm, Kota 1.4 and traces of rainfall in Udaipur over the last 24 hours.

Mount Abu mapped 10.6 degree Celsius, Pilani 10.9, Dholpur 12.5, Churu 13.3, Udaipur 14, Jaisalmer 14.5, Bikaner and Bharatpur 14.6, Barmer 16.8, Jodhpur 17.3, Bhilwara 15, Sawaimadhopur 16.2, Ajmer and Kota 17.4, jahalwar 17.6 and Rawatbhata 19.8 degree Celsius.

CID official shot at in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Militants shot at and critically wounded a CID official of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the down town this evening. Official sources said militants entered the house of Special Grade Constable (SGC) Mushtaq Ahmad of CID department of Police at Soura and fired at him. He was immediately shifted to the hospital in a critical condition. UNI.....

Fire breaks out in PNB branch

Jalandhar, Feb 24 (UNI) A fire broke out in a Punjab National Bank branch situated at railway road at 2245 hours here tonight. Police and fire brigade sources, however, have not given any information regarding the loss of property. There was no casualty in the fire. Six fire tenders were pressed into service to extinguish the fire which was brought under control at 0035 hours. UNI.....

Prez exhorts army officers to equip for combat tech warfare

Wellington, Tamil Nadu, Feb 24 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today exhorted Army officers to equip themselves to combat the technology driven warfare in future. Addressing students and faculty members of the Defence Service Staff college here, he said the future officers of the Armed Forces, particularly young officers have an important role to play in the changing scenario.
