President reaches Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Feb 24 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam has arrived here.

He was received by State Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu and District Collector Neeraj Mittal, among others.

He immediately left to Aravangadu in Nilgiri district by helicopter to attend a function at Defence Staff Training College.

He will also meet former Army Chief and Field Marshal General Maneksha at hospital.

After attending another function at Ooty, he will return to Coimbatore.

All-party meet unanimously resolves to oppose Cauvery verdict

Bangalore, Feb 24 (UNI) An all-party meeting, chaired by Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, today unanimously resolved to reject the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on sharing of the river waters, about 20 days after the verdict was pronounced. Briefing newspersons here after the meeting, Mr Kumaraswamy said a resolution was passed unanimously, highlighting the ''injustice'' meted out to the State by the Tribunal in its verdict. Mysore, Feb 24 (UNI) The protests against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal continued unabated in the Cauvery basin districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar for the 20th day today, even as an all-party meeting rejected the award. In Mandya district, students of various schools and colleges boycotted classes and took out processions. Private bus owners joined the protest by not plying their vehicles in the district.
