Non-ferrous metals rise on good industrial demand

Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) Non-ferrous metals rose on good industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous category, copper utencil and brass cutting declined by Rs 500 each per quintal while copper heavy also slashed by Rs 200 per quintal on lack of fresh demand.

In the non-ferrous category zinc slab shot up by Rs 800 per quintal on good demand while Aluminium ingot and Lead ingot also went up by Rs 100 per quintal on lesser stock supply.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode also costlier by Rs 16 and Rs 40 respectively.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 31,200, copper utensils - Rs 29,000, brass utensils - Rs 23,200, brass cuttings - Rs 24,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 34,500, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,500, zinc slab Rs 19,000, lead ingots - Rs 8,200, tin slab - Rs 696 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 2,020 (per kg).

Silver 9-1/2 mths high, gold rises

Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) Spot silver today edged up to 9-1/2 months high by Rs 245 per kg and gold rose by Rs 75 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange, Silver fineness opened at 9-1/2 months hihg at Rs 20,720 per kg and closed at Rs 20,715 per kg with a massive gain of Rs 245 from its yesterday's close. In London, the white metal also inched up at 14.20/14.58 per troy ounce against USD 12.90/13.90 per troy.....
