Nitish calls for awareness on health facilities

Patna, Feb 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today exhorted the people's representatives to generate awareness about facilities offered by government in health sector and keep a watch on utilisation of funds.

Inaugurating a 'mass awareness week on health' here, Mr Kumar said a computerised data base system incorporating details about the health facilities in the state would be opened for public through a website.

He said any one could know details about the diagnosis of the patient at any health centre on the website across the state.

'' Informations regarding the nature of disease, medicines prescribed and also about the doctors who attended the patients at any health centre would be available on website which would help in better monitoring of functioning of the heath care services '' he added.

He said that state government had initiated steps for providing safe drinking water to the people as contaminated water was the route cause behind 90 percent of gastro-enterological disorders.

PGIMER Virology Department becomes Apex Referral laboratory

Chandigarh, Feb 25 (UNI) Department of Virology, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been identified as one of the Apex Referral laboratory for the advanced diagnosis of Dengue, Japanese encephalitis, Chikungunya and other vector borne viral diseases in India. The frequent reappearance of these diseases in larger proportions was the basis of establishing the Apex Reference Laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities in this region. Under this programme, the virology department, besides advanced diagnosis, will be conducting hands on training for the laboratory diagnosis.....

DMK convenor urges Govt to set up yoga, naturopathy wing

Puducherry, Feb 25 (UNI) Puducherry DMK Convenor and former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman today urged the administration to introduce a seperate yoga and naturopathy wing in the Government General Hospital here. In a memorandum to the Lt Governor Mukut Mithi, Mr Janakiraman pointed out that such wings existed in the other southern states and urged Mr Mithi to take immediate steps to set up it in Puducherry. Chikunguniya cases reported in South Orissa

Berhampur, Feb 27 (UNI) At least 15 cases of chikunguniya were reported in Ganjam, according to Associate Professor of Medicine MKCG Medical College Dr Umakant Mishra. Prof Mishra said 15 serum samples sent to the lab of the National Institute of Virology in Pune and all were confirmed cases of chikunguniya. He has urged the state government to provide logistics and technical support to tackle the disease. Chikunguniya, though not fatal, but restricted the movement of the victims for two.....
