Lunar eclipse on March 4

Chandigarh, Feb 24 (UNI) A total eclipse of the moon will occur from 0300 hrs to 0642 hrs on March 4.

The three hour forty-two minute long eclipse will be visible from all parts of India, according to a Meteorologist here.

The beginning and the ending of total phase of the eclipse besides its partial phase will be visible from all parts of the country.

The ending of the partial phase of the eclipse will be visible only from the north, north-west and western parts of India. In the remaining parts of India, the moon sets before the eclipse ends.

The eclipse will be also visible from the Arctic, Asia, except the eastern part, Europe including the British Isles, Africa, South America and the eastern parts of central and North America.

The beginning of the umbral phase will be visible in Western Australia, extreme south-western tips of Japan, extreme eastern parts of China, Eastern Russia, Philippnes and Indonesia. The ending will be visible in South Pacific Ocean, Mexico, Central part of United States of America and Central Canada.

Paddar family feels unsafe after DNA tests reports

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) The family members of Abdul Rehman Paddar, one of the four victims of the fake encounter killings, today alleged that Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police werethreatening and harassing them after the DNA tests confirmed positive that the body exhumed at Ganderbal on February 1 was that of a carpenter. About 30 people, most of them family members of Paddar, including his wife, had come here all the way from Kokernag in south Kashmir.....

Start Gojri news in Kashmir to counter Pak propganda: TRCF

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF) has demanded a news bulletin in the Gojri language to counter Pakistani 'propaganda' on PTV World. Secretary of the TRCF Dr Javaid Rahi, in a fax to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanded a Gojri news bulletin from Doordarshan Kendra in Srinagar and Jammu. Protest against death of wathcman

Jammu, Feb 24 (UNI) Police today resorted to lathicharge, lobbed tear gas shells and fired in the air to quell an agitated mob protesting against the death of a watchman after he was allegedly slapped by a police officer at Bantalab here. Police sources said Assistant Sub-Inpector Lala Chand, who allegedly slapped Kewal Ram on Friday, was suspended and arrested following his death.
