Latest technologies needed in sugarcane industry

Tirupati, Feb 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh State Sugar Commissioner A Vidya Sagar today stressed the need to introduce the latest technologies in the sugar industry to meet global competition.

Addressing a one-day seminar on Short Retention Juice Clarifier (SRJC) organised by the South Indian Sugarcane and Sugar Technologists Association (SISSTA) here, he said sugar factories should adopt new technologies with the involvement of cane farmers for increasing sugar cane production.

He said new technologies would save time, improve the quality of sugarcane juice, increase recovery of sugar by one per cent and also reduce cost.

Cane production in the state this year was good and steps were being taken to pay better price to farmers ranging between Rs 1150 to Rs 1215 per tonne, he added.

RTC employees to organise mass dharnas in AP

Isolated rain over Coastal Andhra

Hyderabad, Mar 4 (UNI) Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra even as weather remained dry over Telangana and Rayalaseema. According to the Weather Office here today, Visakhapatnam recorded a rainfall of one cm. The minimum temperatures significantly rose at one or two places over Rayalaseema and a few places over Coastal Andhra and changed little over Telangana. Parts of Maharashtra experiences power failure

Mumbai, Feb 25 (UNI) A technical snag at Padghi-Nagothane, which had resulted in tripping of power in parts of Maharashtra this evening, was rectified in phases after nearly four hours. A major power failure had hit the Western and Konkan areas from 1635 hrs due to a technical snag which occurred while charging liner at Padghi-Nagothane.
