Inter-state dacoity gang busted

Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) Five members of an inter-state gang of dacoits, involved in Hawala rackets or Angandiya (courier) office, were nabbed today from Navi Mumbai, about 40 km from here, in a joint operation conducted by city and Rajasthan police.

Briefing reporters here, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhananjay Kamlakar said five members of a gang, involved in number of dacoities in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, were arrested from Navi Mumbai this morning.

A team of Rajasthan police received a tip off as per which the accused, wanted in two dacoity cases registered one at Manikpur and another at Kotwalpur police juridication in Jaipur, had taken shelter in Mumbai since last couple of months.

The Rajasthan police had come down to city, after couple of days investigation, the accused were nabbed from Navi Mumbai.

The accused, identified as Bhavesh Lalji Patel (26), Raju Gauda (26), Purander Pujari (33), Manoj Javale (28) and Ravi Shankar Nayak (29), were involved in several dacoity cases registered in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

During interrogation, they revealed that they have commited dacoity particularly at hawala rackets or Angandiya (courier) office in these states.

Rajasthan police has taken them to the state for further investigations on transit remands, he added.

Poachers' gang busted, ivory and leopard skin seized

SC approached for immediate extradition of Quattrocchi

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) An application was filed in the Supreme Court today seeking directions to the CBI to take immediate steps for the extradition of Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in Bofors Gun scandal, from Argentina without missing the deadline of limitations. Applicant Ajay Agrawal, in his application, has alleged that CBI deliberately concealed the fact of arrest of Quattrocchi by the authorities in Argentina on February 6, and this fact was not disclosed to this court on February 12.....
