India, East Africa to enhance co-operation in agriculture

New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) India has proposed to exchange farmers with Member States of East African Community (ECA) for gaining experience in farm technique to boost agriculture production.

This emerged at a meeting between the Minister of State for Agriculture Kanti Lal Bhuria with a high level delegation of ECA led by its Secretary General Juma V Mwapachu which called on him here today.

Welcoming the delegation the Minister expressed satisfaction over the talks held with the ECA delegation yesterday and also agreements signed to enhance bilateral cooperation.

He hoped that both sides will benefit from each others experience in agriculture and also cooperate in research activities to increase production.

Pointing out that ECA is also progressing very well in agricultural production the Minister emphasised the need to have commercial relations in this sector.

He said they should cooperate in marketing agricultural products so that farmers of both sides benefit.

The leader of the East African Community, Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and others spoke about the importance of increasing bilateral relations. They said already some farmers from Andhra Pradesh are working in Uganda and Kenya.

East African Community comprises Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

Centre to set up mega power projects in AP, MP and Gujarat

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information, Public Relations and Energy Mohd Ali Shabbir today announced that the Centre had chosen Krishnapatnam to estlablish a 4,000 MW ultra mega power plant, apart from two others in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Talking to media after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the power situation, he said the government had already earmarked land and agreed to establish four-lane roads, and railway tracks for the project......
