IMA urges JAC and doctors to end agitation

Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) Indian Medical Association (IMA) president A Vivekananda has appealed to the Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed by the family members of a woman who died on February 19 at RIMS, to call off their strike.

The IMA president also urged Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) doctors to resume their services, which they closed down after two female doctors were allegly assaulted by the public.

The JAC had called a general strike and is now threatening to put a blockade on NH 39 and 53 in the state from February 28.

RIMS superintendent said talks were held at Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh's chamber between RIMS authorities and members of the JAC yesterday.

Gang of auto-lifters busted in North West Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Police have busted a gang of auto-lifters with the arrest of a man from North-West Delhi and recovered six stolen vehicles. Ashok Kumar (26) was arrested from Sarawati Vihar on March 4 while he was trying to flee. Police have worked out six cases and recovered six vehicles from him. During interrogation he revealed that he was part of a gang which operated in Delhi. Further investigations are in progress. UNI.....

Netaji's driver finally gets govt accommodation

Port Blair, Feb 24 (UNI) Member of the erstwhile Indian National Army (INA) Pratap Singh, who was appointed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's driver in Germany during World War II, was today allotted government accommodation here by the state administration. Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh had allotted him a Type II government quarter in recognition to Mr Singh's service to the country. Jilted lover immolates himself

Kota, March 6 (UNI) A man immolated himself here after the woman he was in love with spurned his marriage proposal. Twentysix-year-old Dhirendra Sharma, who ran a cyber cafe, had reportedly developed a strong one-sided liking for a government school teacher. The teacher, who has a child, is reported to be quite older to Sharma. Sharma, who hailed from Keshavrai Patan in Bundi district, was running a cyber cafe at Gumanpura in Kota.
