High court says Farmer leader Beniwal's detention illegal

Jaipur, Feb 24 (UNI) Rajasthan High court has asked the state government to release farmer leader and former MLA Hetram Beniwal forth with as his detention is illegal.

A division bench of Justices Shiv kuamr Sharma and R C Chauhan while hearing a habeas corpus by advocate Vikram Singh Nain yesterday directed the government to ''set Beniwal at liberty forthwith'' as his detention is illegal.

The government had detained the former CPM MLA in connection with the on going farmers agitation in Ganganagar district on October 8 last year.

The court observed that the proper procedure of law was not followed in his detention.The judges in their ruling said, ''in a democratic country no citizen can be detained without adopting the procedure of law.'' Since the procedure of law was not followed in this case the detention of the farmer leader is illegal. it added.

Margadarsi case: City Court adjourns hearing to Monday

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (UNI) A city court today granted permission with certain conditions to the Police to further search the premises of the Margadarsi Financiers, owned by media baron Ch Ramoji Rao from 1000 hrs tomorrow and posted the case for further hearing to Monday. Passing an interim order on a petition filed by Mr Ramoji Rao praying for suspension of its order dated February 21, Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge S Anantasayana Prasad ordered the search operation should be taken up.....

Bhatt's office firing case suspects to be chargesheeted tomorrow

Mumbai, Feb 25 (UNI) Five alleged members of the Ravi Poojari gang, suspected to be behind the firing at Bollywood film producer Mahesh Bhatt's office last year, will be chargesheeted tomorrow. Santosh Appu Poojari (33), Ramesh Sudhershan Kanojiya (27), Arvind Mohan Devadiga (34), Nityanand Vithal Shetty (22) and Sampat Shankar Kotiyan (23) will be produced before MCOCA court Judge M R Bhatkar to seek an extension of their remand. Investigating officer Udaysingh Rathod told UNI the chargesheet will be filed tomorrow......
