Debate on Cauvery would strain relations between TN, Kar:Baalu

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, T R Baalu today said any Parliamentary debate on the Cauvery Water Tribunal Award at this juncture would vitiate the cordial relationship between the people of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

A release from his office said the Minister however, urged the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to permit Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) MPs from Tamil Nadu to participate in the eventuality of any such debate in the Parliament.

Mr Baalu said even though the Tribunal had delivered its verdict on the long pending issue, both the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Governments are approaching the judiciary for allaying apprehensions and seeking clarifications in respect of the award.

Governor raps govt for ignoring his letter

Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) In a twist to the ongoing political feud over the delay in electing a new Chairman to the Karnataka Legislative Council, Officiating Chairman N Thipanna today said he was not aware about the message from Governor T N Chaturvedi when he adjourned the House to March 16 on Tuesday. Mr Thippanna's response came after the Governor, in a strongly worded press release last night, questioned the adjournment of the House without informing the members about his message.....
