Close shave for Agnibina Express passengers

Kolkata, Feb 24 (UNI) Seven bogies of the Agnibina Express, running between Asansol and Howrah rolled over a crack on the tracks near Eastern Railway's Begumpur station this morning.

According to official sources, the local villagers, who had noticed the crack, informed the nearest railway cabin. But before the driver could be contacted, the train reached closed to the spot prompting the villagers to wave a red flag.

Even though the driver put the brakes, the first seven bogies of the train rolled over the crack before coming to a complete halt, though without causing an accident.

Railway sources said all the passengers were safe.

After the detention, the train was later allowed to pass in a slow motion.

All passengers escaped unhurt.

Repair work on the track had been undertaken, the sources added.

Monica case: Superintendent deposes

Bhopal, Mar 6 (UNI) A local court today recorded the statement of the Superintendent, Passports Office, in a fake passports case against underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi. ''The passports of Danish Baig (Salem), Rubina Baig (Salem's wife Samira Jumani) and Fauzia Osman (Monica) were sent for police verification from my office. Fake currency racket busted, five held

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 6 (UNI) District police today busted a fake currency racket by arresting five of its members and recovering fake currency worth Rs 3.5 lakh along with a scanner and printer. Speaking to media here, District Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra said the fake currency was seized just before its circulation in the market. She said V Iylaiah, a native of Gorikothapalli village of Regonda mandal, while serving a sentence in Warangal Central Prison on charges.....
