Call girls racket busted, five held

Rajkot, Feb 24 (UNI) With the arrest of a woman, two girls and a couple from the private hotel behind the city central bus station last night, police claimed to have busted a call girls racket.

Acting on a tip off, a police party raided the Modern Hotel and arrested them for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.

However, the police party allowed three other couples, who were also found in the hotel, to go after prelimanary interrogations.

The sleuth also spoke to their parents and later they were allowed to go, police added.

Two farmers commit suicide in west Vidarbha region

Akola, Feb 24 (UNI) two debt ridden farmers in west Vidarbha region, comprising Akola, Washim and Buldhana district, committed suicide last week. According to police, Devidas Dattuji Umbarkar(45) of village Bhor in Akola district set himself on fire on February 18. He was admitted in the district hospital where he succumbed to the burn injuries on February 23, police said. He is survived by two sons. Police arrest two in Bentinck Street murder case

Kolkata, Feb 24 (UNI) In a breakthrough in the Bentinck Street murder case within two weeks, police today arrested two youths and recovered cash and jewellary from them. Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 (UNI) Orissa crime branch and forest officials in a joint operation today busted a gang of poachers and seized 14.3 kg ivory and a leopard skin from their possession.
