State Bank of Patiala hikes Interest for FDs to 9.50%

Patiala, Feb 23 (UNI) State Bank of Patiala today hiked the Bank's fixed deposits rates under the Platinum Deposit Scheme with effect from today.

For fixed deposits of three years and above, the Bank will now pay 9.75 per cent instead of 9.25 per cent for senior citizens while for General public, the interest rate will be raised to 9.50 per cent from nine per cent.

Minimum deposits under this scheme was Rs 25,000, an official statement said here.

Voltas hikes ceiling of FII investment limit to 30 pc

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Voltas Ltd today said its Board has approved the increase in the ceiling of FII investments in the company under the portfolio investment scheme from 24 per cent to 30 per cent of its paid up capital. In addition, Reserve Bank of India has advised the company that the aggregate shareholding of FIIs had reached 28.08 per cent of its paid-up capital as against a limit of 30 per cent, a statemenet said. 13 students drown in boat tragedy

Kochi, Feb 20 (UNI) Thirteen students of an excurssion party drowned as their boat capsized at Ovungal Kadavu in the Periyar river today. According to police sources there were 45 students in the boat when it capsized. Ten students were rescued by the Navel swimmers and rescue operations were in full swing for the other missing students, the sources said. There were 106 students and 10 teachers from St Antony's School, Elvoor, Angamali, left in three boats to the Thattekkadu bird.....

India, US favour expanded trade in advanced technologies

Washington, Feb 23 (UNI) Indian and US officials have expressed their desire to capitalise on thriving strategic partnerships to boost bilateral trade in advanced technology products.
