Sensex shows big fall; Down over 400 points

Mumbai, Feb 23: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) today saw a major downfall. The Sensex today slipped by over 400 points to touch 13621 mark. On Thursday markets closed on 14,021.31 points.

The sudden fall in sensex, just when the Parliament session on Budget began, is mostly due to the sustained selling pressure across the board.

All the index pivotals are in the red, especially banking, FMCG and pharma stocks. Top gainers on the Sensex are Tata Steel at Rs 464, Reliance at Rs 1,421 and BHEL at Rs 2,298.70.

Top losers on the Sensex are Grasim at Rs 2,280, ICICI Bank at Rs 902 and Ranbaxy Labs at Rs 353.

Civilians among 7 injured in NSCN factional clash

Kohima, Mar 9: Three civilians and four NSCN(K) cadres were injured when the rival groups of NSCN were engaged in a fierce gun battle at Satakha town in Nagaland's Zunheboto district yesterday, official sources today said. The heavy exchange of firing had started at 0630 hours which lasted till noon leaving seven persons critically injured, the sources said.The civilians were hit by stray bullets during the clash. Mumbai, Feb 27: The BSE Sensex today opened positive at 13,703.41 points as compared to the previous day's close of 13,649.52 points on fresh speculative demand from Foreign Insititutional Investors (FIIs) and some mutual funds, brokers said.Volatility dogged the market for the second day in a row, weakening it after a firm start.The Sensex was down by 53 points at 13,596.
