Punjab LJP unit protest against Nishabd

Jalandhar, Feb 23 (UNI) The Punjab unit of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today burnt the posters of superstar Amitabh Bachchan, in protest against his controversial role in film 'Nishabd'.

The film deals with the psychology of a 60-year-old man who falls in love with an 18-year-old girl.

While demanding a ban on the screening of the movie, Punjab LJP general secretary Parminder Singh Kala said,''The character in the film played by Amitabh is against the traditions of our society and it will adversarly affect the psychology of the children.'' He also demanded strict action against the filmmaker so that in future no one dared to do such controversial films.

'Nishabd' is Ramgopal Varma's latest film about human relationships which stars Amitabh Bachchan and newcomer Jiah Khan.

CD case: Deputy Collector suspended

Hoshangabad, MP, Mar 3 (UNI) A deputy collector, posted at the Collectorate here, was suspended today in connection with a case pertaining to an obscene compact disc (CD), official sources said. Divisional Commissioner B R Naidu issued the order against Mr R L Bhammani. During the suspension, the officer's headquarters will be Rajgarh. The CD, beamed on television news channels a couple of days back, showed Mr Bhammani indulging in obscene acts with an unidentified woman. An administrative inquiry is underway......

Three dead in road accident

Sheopur, MP, Feb 23 (UNI) Three people died and two others were seriously injured when a jeep collided with a truck in front of the district sessions court premises here, police said today. The accident occurred when the trio were on their way to a hotel. The deceased were identified as Sandhya Gupta (38), Shreya (14) and jeep driver Mashtkin. Mahoba, Mar 3 (UNI) Two illegal arms manufacturing units were unearthed with the arrest of two miscreants in separate incidents here today. A large number of pistols and cartridges were recovered from the spot. Superintendent of Police Gyan Singh said on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Makarbai village in Karbai area and caught one person red-handed making the illegal weapons.
