Orissa police seize huge amount of gelatin sticks

Berhampur, Feb 23 (UNI) Police today seized 400 highly explosive gelatin sticks concealed in 20 packets and ten bags of urea from an auto-rickshaw near Pokudibandha Square, ten kms from here.

These explosives were suspected to be meant for the Naxal activities, according to Berhampur Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar.

Police have arrested Chiranjivi Mandal, the driver of the auto rickshaw and vehicle owner Hina Mandal. The gelatin sticks had its origin from Nagpur with 'Neo Gelatin 90 Amin Explosives Nagpur' print on it.

This was the first case where the Berhampur police seized such a huge amount of gelatin sticks.

The SP said police the accused Kora Sethi, a resident of Dhoba Sahi in Ankuli area here, was absconding but would be nabbed soon.

''We are also investigating the exact destination of these explosives and things would be easy for us after the arrest of Kora,''Mr Gangwar said.

These gelatin sticks were being transported from Bhabandha in Purushottampur from Berhampur when the police seized the explosives.

Police later seized another 16 bags of urea fertiliser from the godown of the main accused.

Garment exporters expectations from the Budget 2007

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The garment exporters have high expectations from Budget 2007 and have urged certain concession for the industry for this employment-oriented Textile and Garment Sector as the Government is giving high priority to employment generation. The wish-list of Garment Exporters Association (GEA) from the Budget is that following GEA Pre-Budget recommendations would receive due consideration of the Finance Minister while finalising the Budget proposals.
