New train to Kanpur

Bhopal, Feb 23 (UNI) The Valsad-Kanpur Udyogkarmi Express will begin its maiden journey on February 28 and ply once a week -- leaving Valsad on Thursdays and Kanpur on Fridays.

The 2943 Down Udyogkarmi Express will leave Valsad at 1940 hrs and reach here at 1045 hrs the following day. The 2944 Up Udyogkarmi Express will leave Kanpur at 0800 hrs on March 2, arrive here at 1600 hrs and reach Valsad at 0745 hrs, a Bhopal Railway Division release said here today.

Monica case: Defence plea heard

Bhopal, Mar 3 (UNI) A local court today heard incomplete arguments on a review petition submitted by the defence for making seven people co-accused, on the basis of witnesses' statements, in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi stand accused. Special Judge Anurag Shrivastav heard arguments by Defence Counsel P C Bedi who submitted, ''the statements of officials of the municipal corporation and passports office make it seem as if Bedi is being deliberately.....

Central excise collections to touch Rs 3600 cr in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The Mangalore Central Excise Commissionerate is expected to achieve a growth rate of about 19-20 per cent in collections to reach Rs 3,600 crore mark by March 2007, its Commissioner Dr John Joseph said today.
