Khajuraho Fest begins Feb 25

Bhopal, Feb 23 (UNI) The Khajuraho Festival of Dances 2007, an international event, gets underway at that world-renowned tourist destination on February 25 and would be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma.

''The fest will conclude on March 3 and witness performances by artistes of national stature,'' Director (Culture) Pawan Srivastava told journalists here today.

The programme schedule is -- February 25: Kumkumdhar (Lucknow) Kathak, Kanaka Shriniwas (Delhi) Bharatanatyam group, Suchitra Harmalkar (Indore) Kathak; February 26: Ranjana Gouhar (Delhi) Odissi, Uma Rahul (Mumbai) Ballet (Santvani), Lata Singh Munshi (Bhopal) Bharatanatyam; February 27: Uma Murali Krishna (Chennai) Kuchipudi, International Chhau Dance Group (Puruliya, West Bengal) Chhau, West Bengal Chhau (Puruliya) Chhau, Vijaya Sharma (Bhopal) Kathak; February 28: Neena Prasad (Thiruvananthapuram) Mohiniattam, Nalini and Kamalini (Delhi) Kathak, Bindu Juneja (Bhopal) Odissi; March 1: Munna Shukla (Delhi) Kathak group, Priya Jayraman (Chennai) Bharatanatyam, V Anuradha Singh (Bhopal) Kathak; March 2: Geeta Mahalik (Delhi) Odissi, Jawahar Lal Nehru Manipuri Dance Akademi (Manipur) Manipuri, Shweta Mishra (Lucknow) Kathak; March 3: Kumkum Mohanti (Bhubaneswar) Odissi, Kala Mandalam Gopi (Kerala), Kathakali Sankalp Group (Delhi) Odissi.

Bhopal, Feb 23 (UNI) The Valsad-Kanpur Udyogkarmi Express will begin its maiden journey on February 28 and ply once a week -- leaving Valsad on Thursdays and Kanpur on Fridays. The 2943 Down Udyogkarmi Express will leave Valsad at 1940 hrs and reach here at 1045 hrs the following day. The 2944 Up Udyogkarmi Express will leave Kanpur at 0800 hrs on March 2, arrive here at 1600 hrs and reach Valsad at 0745 hrs, a Bhopal Railway Division release said.....

Battle for UP: SS to ally with BJP

Indore, Feb 23 (UNI) Shiv Sena (SS) Working President Uddhav Thackeray today said that the party intended to forge an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly election. ''The SS wishes to tie up with Hindu forces to prevent polarisation of Hindu votes. The details will be sorted out later. MPHC stays Cong leader's expulsion

Indore, Feb 23 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore Bench today issued an interim stay on the expulsion of state Congress President Subhash Yadav from Khargone district's Sewa Cooperatives Committee, Borawan, and issued a notice to Cooperatives Minister Gopal Bhargava. Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice J K Maheshwari also issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Cooperatives), Deputy Registrar (Cooperatives), Khargone, Registrar (Cooperative Committees) and the Sewa Cooperatives Committee, Borawan, all of whom are to reply within a month......
