Heroin worth Rs 75 lakh seized, 9 held

Rohtak, Feb 23 (UNI) Police have seized 750 gm heroin worth Rs 75 lakh in this district and arrested nine persons in this connection.

The contraband was being smuggled in a car near Tilyar tourist Resort here on the National Highway No 10 late on Wednesday night, police said today.

The nine arrested were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Those arrested were identified as Datar Singh, Sanjit and Manjit of Rajasthan and Rajiv, Sajan, Madan Lal, Mota Ram, Leela ram and Gobajraj, all residents of Haryana.

A case under section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at the local police station.

The accused were produced in a local court which remanded them in police custody for seven days.

4 criminals arrested

Varanasi, Feb 23 (UNI) Police today claimed to have worked out a series of crimes with the arrest of four criminals from Shivpur area here. On being tipped off, police nabbed Vishal Singh, Manoj Sonkar, Rajbali Patel and Swaminath from Chandmari locality. A pistol, countrymade revolver and two motorcycles were recovered from the spot. On interrogation, the quartet admitted to a series of crimes including a recent murder and a robbery. Vishal also admitted to involvment in the October 10, 2005.....

Action plan in MP to rein in dengue, chikungunya

Bhopal, Feb 27 (UNI) In order to prevent dengue and chikungunya from spreading in Madhya Pradesh, a decision has been taken to set up control room in the state capital besides rapid emergency centres in various districts. Health Commissioner Rajesh Rajora said 60,000 chikungunya and 212 dengue case were registered in the state last year. Necessary steps were being taken to prevent these diseases from spreading. A control room was being set up at the Jaiprakash Hospital in the state capital.....

HC cancels Khadi Gramodyog Board recruitment process

Lucknow, Feb 23 (UNI) In a significant ruling, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today cancelled the 2005 recruitment process of Khadi Gramodyog Board to fill class III and IV vacancies. A Single Judge Bench of Justice Devi Prasad Singh also directed the Board to initiate the recruitment process afresh. Besides, the Board was fined Rs 50,000 and ordered to take disciplinary action against the guilty persons. The court passed the order on a petition filed by Suraj Singh.....
