HC stays proceedings on FIRs against TV channel

Chandigarh, Feb (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the proceedings on different FIRs registered in all districts of Punjab against a TV channel for telecasting results of an exit poll during the polling for the Assembly elections in the state on February 13.

The FIR had been registered on Election Commission directive, which had found the airing of the exit poll results during the polling violative of the provisions of Section 126 of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951.

Justice Virender Singh issued notices to the Election Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab and others for March 12.

Twelve arrested in aluminium bars seizure case in TN

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) In all 12 people, including the kingpin, have been arrested in connection with the recent seizure of aluminium bars in Tamil Nadu. Call girls racket busted, five held

Rajkot, Feb 24 (UNI) With the arrest of a woman, two girls and a couple from the private hotel behind the city central bus station last night, police claimed to have busted a call girls racket. Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) Five members of an inter-state gang of dacoits, involved in Hawala rackets or Angandiya (courier) office, were nabbed today from Navi Mumbai, about 40 km from here, in a joint operation conducted by city and Rajasthan police.
