HC stays proceedings on FIRs against TV channel

Chandigarh, Feb (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the proceedings on different FIRs registered in all districts of Punjab against a TV channel for telecasting results of an exit poll during the polling for the Assembly elections in the state on February 13.

The FIR had been registered on Election Commission directive, which had found the airing of the exit poll results during the polling violative of the provisions of Section 126 of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951.

Justice Virender Singh issued notices to the Election Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab and others for March 12.

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) Police busted a fake passport racket while conducting raids on hotels and lodges in the wake of President's visit to the city and arrested three people, including a Lankan National. Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) In all 12 people, including the kingpin, have been arrested in connection with the recent seizure of aluminium bars in Tamil Nadu.
