Governor promises development with good governance

Patna, Feb 23 (UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gavai today reiterated his government's commitment to lead the state along the path of progress and development and embark on a new era of 'good governance'.

Addressing a joint session of legislature, Mr Gavai dwelt at length upon the achievements of the NDA government which completed one year in office on November 24, 2006 and assured to carry forward all development projects and schemes.

In his address dotted by interruptions from the opposition, Mr Gavai claimed that the law and order situation in the state had improved and trade and industry sector had started looking up.

Following efforts by the government, an invest friendly climate had been created and many investors had evinced keen interest to invest in Bihar, he said.

Mr Gavai mentioned about the constitution of commissions and committees to study and recommend ways for removing impediments on the way of development of women, farmers and minorities.

Orissa police seize huge amount of gelatin sticks

Berhampur, Feb 23 (UNI) Police today seized 400 highly explosive gelatin sticks concealed in 20 packets and ten bags of urea from an auto-rickshaw near Pokudibandha Square, ten kms from here. These explosives were suspected to be meant for the Naxal activities, according to Berhampur Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar. Coast Guard rescues six from sinking vessel in Andaman Sea

Port Blair, Feb 23 (UNI) The Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre of Indian Coast Guard here has rescued six crew members from a sinking ship in Andaman sea, Coast Guard Official said today. EEPC trade with ASEAN countries grows by 30 PC to 23 billion dollar

Kolkata,Feb 23 (UNI) India's trade with ASEAN countries has recorded an impressive 30 per cent growth to a record 23 billion dollars last year and is poised to cross the 30 billion dollar mark by this year end.
