Contempt of court petition against Kumaraswamy rejected

Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today rejected a criminal contempt of court petition against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for allegedly committing contempt of the Supreme court and the High Court.

A Division Bench, comprising Mr Justice Gururajan and Mr Justice Anand Byrareddy, dismissed the petition, filed by city Advocate A V Amarnathan.

The petitioner contended that Mr Kumaraswamy and his brother and State Energy Minister H D Revanna had made a scathing attack on the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, which was for all purposes functioning as the electricity court. Certain personal comments were made against the Commission Chairman and its members, which amounted to contempt of court.

The court rejected the petitioner's prayer to suo motu initiate contempt proceedings after the Advocate General denied him permission to file the criminal contempt of court petition.

HSMC to sign up MNC partner in three weeks for Semicon Fab

Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) Hindustan Semiconductor Manufacturing inc (HSMC) will, in three weeks time, sign up with a multinational partner to start work on a Semiconductor Fab in India with an initial investment of one billion dollars. HSMC Managing Partner Devendra Verma told UNI that he was in negotiation with the Governments of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for locating the Fab and also various downstream units. North Bihar to become 'Industrial hub' : Lalu

Shillong, Feb 21 (UNI) Two Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council militants surrendered before the police here.
