Budget Session begins with President's address

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The Budget Session of Parliament began today with the address of President A P J Abdul Kalam to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

The Railway Budget will be presented in Parliament on Monday which would be followed by the Economic Survey the next day and the General Budget on February 28.

UPA govt. to promote PPP model for infrastructure growth: Kalam

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Showering praise on the UPA government for launching sustained efforts to promote Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) as an instrument for building world class infrastructure, President APJ Abdul Kalam today said the salutary results of such a policy were to be seen in the phenomenal changes in the railway, civil aviation, power, road and port sectors. Govt building architechture of inclusive growth: Kalam

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the government is building a ''new architecture of inclusive growth'' consisting of Bharat Nirman, the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and the National Rural Health Mission and strengthening and expanding the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission. In his address to the Joint Session of Parliament, the President said considerable progress has been made in all these schemes. Targets have been met for projects.....

Govt to encourage public-private parnership in tourism

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the government would encourage public-private partnership in tourism across the country with a view to improving the quality of infrastructure to cash in on the booming industry. ''Tourism has enormous potential and we are already seeing its benefits,'' he said while addressing the joint session of Parliament. Dr Kalam said there had been an impressive growth in recent months in foreign tourists arrivals, foreign exchange earnings and employment.....
