12 victims of Samjhauta Express identified in Nadiad

Ahmedabad, Feb 23 (UNI) Twelve Pakistani victims of the Samjhauta Express blasts in Panipat were identified by their relatives today.

Nadiad Municipality chief Maheshbhai Patel told UNI that among the victims, Mohammed Naseem (60) and Marium Yusuf Mohemmed (55) were identified through their passports, Mehruna Mohemmed Yusuf (40), Ferhan Mohemmed (19) and Aman Mohemmed Yakub (14) were identified by their belongings, while Anwar Malik (35) was identified by his teeth.

In a ghastly terror attack, 67 people, mostly Pakistani nationals, were burnt to death and nearly 15 injured, 12 of them seriously, when two powerful explosions ripped through two coaches of the Lahore-bound Samjhauta Express on February 19.

Militants fire at polling station, 40 per cent polling

Imphal, Feb 23 (UNI) Unidentifed gunmen fired at a polling station in Tamenglong, some 150 kms from here, disrupting voting, even as 40 per cent voting reported in first five hours as Manipur's third and final phase elections for remaining 12 assembly segments began at 0700 hours today. According to a preliminary estimate about 40 per cent polling was reported till 1200 hours. Polling in other booths in three districts of Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Chandel districts and Jiribam sub divisions went.....

UCIL applies for uranium mining in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 22 (UNI) Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) has submitted its application to the state government for mining natural uranium in the state. The company has submitted four sets of documents, which include White paper, Executive Summary on Environment, Detailed Project Report and a mining lease, to state Chief Secretary S K Tewari recently. It has also submitted the Executive Summary on Environment to Meghalaya Pollution Control Board. UCIL has proposed to develop an opencast mine.....

Governor promises development with good governance

Patna, Feb 23 (UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gavai today reiterated his government's commitment to lead the state along the path of progress and development and embark on a new era of 'good governance'.
