Two women killed in road accident

Hajipur, Feb 22 (UNI) Two women were killed and six injured when a speeding truck collided headon with a tempo on Mahatma Gandhi Setu over Ganga late night on Wednesday.

Police said the victims were identified as Sanju Devi and her daughter Khushbu Kumari of Bharokhara village under Pantepur police station.

The injured had been admitted to a local hospital while the vehicles involved in the collision had been seized, sources added.

Agartala, Feb 22 (UNI) The Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) has recommended that monitoring systems for various natural hazards in the North Eastern Region (NER) need to be modernised with installation of additional seismic stations, flood warning systems and GPS equipped with autonomic analysis and warning systems connected to major cities. Chilka Lake harbours 135 rare Irrwaddy Dolphins-Census

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22 (UNI) A latest census conducted by the Chilka Development Authority(CDA) has revealed the presence of 135 rare and endangered Irrawaddy Dolphins in the Chilka lagoon. The line transact survey adopted during the census on February 20 by dividing the Lagoon into 18 zones, has shown that there had been a marginal increase in the number of Dolphins in the lake.
