Speaker adjourns House for the day

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today without transacting any official business as the opposition parties stalled the proceedings over the issues of ''Eenadu'' and reservations for Muslims.

When the House reassembled after it was adjourned for more than one hour, the main opposition TDP members continued to stall the proceedings demanding setting aside of the regular business to discuss the ''Eenadu'' issue.

Meanwhile, the AIMIM members, who were agitated over Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbirs' reported statement on the Muslim reservation issue, rushed to the podium and demanded an immediate discussion on the issue.

Though Speaker K R Suresh Reddy appealed to the members to resume their seats promising to take up the issue relating to Margadarsi Financiers tomorrow under Rule 304, the TDP members refused to soften their stand.

The Speaker also appealed to the AIMIM members to resume their seats as the government was ready to place a statement on the reservation issue later.

As the TDP members and the AIMIM members continued with their furore, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.
