SGS expands its distribution market in eastern India

Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) SGS Silk Mill Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai-based textile company, will soon hit the mid-market section in the eastern region, expanding its distribution network in West Bengal.

Addressing the launching ceremony here today, SGS Executive Director Kishore Rathi said the company with an annual turnover of Rs 70 crore sells its products through the wholesellers in more than 10,000 retail shops all over the country.

'' In West Bengal we already have about 3000 retailers and are planning to strengthen the base by supplying to more retail shops.

We supply more to Pantaloon showrooms, '' Mr Rathi said.

The Mumbai-based silk mill, which started with only suiting in 1997 at Tarapur, is now manufacturing shirting and several other varieties of fabric.

The suiting and shirtings range from Rs 65 to Rs 200 per mt, Mr Rathi said adding the price had been fixed to target the mid market section.

On the USP of the brand, Mr Rathi said, '' We are producing high quality textile in a very affordable price. '' '' Our main competitors as of now are Siyaram's and Donear, '' the Executive Director said.

The company's Deputy Director said they have their own international brand called SGS international, which is manufactured abroad in partnership with a few Korean and Chinese textile units.

Timex entails Rs 24 cr investment on expansion

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Watch-maker Timex today said it will invest around Rs 24 crore in setting up a new manufacturing plant, opening around 120 outlets across the country and on marketing operations. ''We would set up a manufacturing plant at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh by investing Rs 10-11 crore which would be functioned by this April,'' company's Vice President Salil Sadanandan told reporters here. Another Rs 10-12 crore will be pumped into marketing and opening around 120 outlets.....

Max India to raise Rs 1,000 cr via QIP

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Max India today said it will raise Rs 1,000 crore by issuing equity to Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs).
