Search on in J'khand, Bihar, WB to nab kidnappers

Bokaro, Feb 22 (UNI) Police have intensified joint search operations in neighbouring Bihar and West Bengal to nab criminals involved in the abduction of an iron trader from Jharkhand.

Superintendent of Police Priya Dubey said random raids were also being conducted in the sensitive places of the state.

Refusing to divulge details about the progress made so far by the police in this case, the SP asserted that the raids yielded certain vital leads, which would help solve the case soon.

Sudhir Singh, an iron trader was kidnapped from here on February 16 and a case was lodged with the police on February 18.

New Medical Collge to come up in Bellary

Bangalore, Feb 26 (UNI) Karnataka Medical Education Minister V S Acharya today said that the government plans to open a new Dental College in Bellary. Dr Acharya told reporters here today that the land and other infrastructure was already available for the opening of the dental college. ''A dental college is much needed in this area,'' he said adding that the college will be ready by 2008. Dr Acharya said that the government had given autonomous status to the remaining two.....

OC of Amta police station suspended

Howrah, Feb 22 (UNI) The Officer-in-charge of Amta police station Rajiv Ranjan Singh was suspended today for dereliction of duty. Howrah Police Superintendent Niraj Singh said the OC was suspended after he was found guilty of not informing the higher officials on time about a scuffle between two families in Mullapara of Chandrapur village on Tuesday. The victim who was critically injured in the row was admitted to the SSKM hospital where she died yesterday. The Superintendent had also ordered.....

Mala Mahanadu urge CM to constitute Dalit committee

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) State Mala Mahanadu today urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to constitute a Dalit committee for their overall development in the state. The delegation, led by its State President J Prabhakara Rao, today met Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum to look into the problems of the Dalits in the state. In the memorandum, they said the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission, appointed by the earlier government to prevent atrocities on Dalits, should.....
