SDJM deposes in former minister murder case

Patna, Feb 22 (UNI) Sub-Divisonal Judicial Megistrate (SDJM) of Jhanjharpur Bimal Kumar Sinha today deposed as a witness in the much- hyped murder case of former Bihar minister Brij Bihari Prasad in a local sessions court here.

While deposing before additional district and sessions judge of Patna S P N Singh, Mr Sinha said he had recorded the statement of four witnesses.

Mr Sinha was posted as a first class judicial magistrate here in 1998.

Former Science and Technology Minister Brij Bihari Prasad was shot dead on the premises of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) here in 1998.

LJP MP Suraj Bhan Singh, MLAs Bijay Kumar Shukla and Shashi Kumar Rai and former MLA Rajan Tiwary were among the several accused facing the trial in the case.

Affected persons submit memorandum to CM on ORR project

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Inhabitants who were affected by the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project on the city outskirts, today urged the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy not to change the alignment of the project keeping in mind the farmers' interests. Displaced Persons Sangham convenor Bhaskara Reddy and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) vice president of Ranga Reddy district C Bheem Reddy, along with farmers, met the Chief Minister today and submitted a memorandum in this regard. Businessman looted by dacoits

Koderma, Feb 22 (UNI) Armed miscreants looted property worth Rs one lakh from a businessman in Jharkhand's Koderma district last night, police said today. Superintendent of Police T Kandaswami said about six miscreants entered the house of Sanjeev Verma in Jhumri Tillaya area and looted the cash and jewellery. Miscreants also manhandled Mr Verma and his mother who were admitted to a private clinic, the SP added. Police said business rivalry was likely to be the reason behind the incident. UNI.....

TN to extend support for foreign investors: Minister

Chennai, Feb 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi today informed that the state is geared up to extend full support for the foreign investors. During a speech at the inauguration of Australian Consulate General in the city, he said ''this one state offers an excellent conducive investment climate to the local and overseas investors''. ''Tamil Nadu is one of the front line state, which has been attracting investments from all over the world'', he said adding ''the overseas.....
