Hydeabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur expressed hope that Scouts and Guides would work with a spirit of dedicated service for suffering fellow beings without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion.

The Governor was speaking at the 'Thinking Day Celebrations', organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides Organisation in connection with the birthday of its founder Lady Baden Powell at the 'At Home' At Rajbhavan here.

Mr Thakur congratulated the Andhra Pradsesh Bharat Scouts and Guides contingent, which partipated in the special national Jamboree held at Rajarhat, Kolkata in January, bringing laurels to the state.

In 1930, the World Association of Scouts and Guides had unanimously voted lady Baden Powell as the Chief Guide of the movement. In 1932 the joint birthday of lord and lady Baden Powell came to be known as 'Thinking Day'.

The main objective of celebrating the 'Thinking Day' was to infuse a sense of dedicated service among the scouts and guides contingent towards the suffering fellow beings.

Ashok Kumar wins Solaris global Green Open Golf title

Cauvery agitation in K'taka enters 18th day

Mysore, Feb 22 (UNI) The widespread agitation by farmers and various organisations against the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal showed no signs of let up, with the stir in the Cauvery basin districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar entering the 18th day today. In Mandya, the agitators continued their rasta roko at various places. A number of organisations took out processions in K R Pet, Srirangapatna and Pandavapura towns. The Cauvery Hitarakshana Samithi continued its relay hunger strike.....

CCMB to hold three-day international symposium from tomorrow

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Scientistis from various countries will take part in a three-day symposium on Advances in Structural Biology and Structure Prediction here from tomorrow. Organised by the premier Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and Association for Promotion of DNA Fingerprinting and other DNA Technologies (ADNAT), the symposium would cover a variety of topics on structural biology of cellular processes, structural proteomics of pathogenic organisms, protein engineering and design, X-ray crystallography and NMR studies, Cryoelectron microscopy and tomography.....
