Sahara Pariwar targets $ 150-160mln with new global services co

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Sahara India Pariwar today forayed into the global services market with the launch of a new entity Sahara Care House, to capitalise on the increased demand of Indians residing overseas.

''The newly-formed firm will function as an entirely seperate entity like any other normal company. We are targeting a turnover of 150-160 million dollars in the next three years,'' Mr Romi Datta, Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Care House and International Business of Sahara India Pariwar told reporters here.

However, the investment figures were not disclosed by the company.

''We will disclose the figures in few weeks time. We have invested primarily in the human resource and promotion. We have drawn an integrated plan of marketing including television commercials on our and other channels, and outdoor campaigning.

There is also an ad-campaign centered the world cup on the anvil,'' Mr Datta added.

Sahara Pariwar with an asset base of over Rs 50,000 crore is present in media and entertainment, aviation, finance, infrastructure and hospitaility, consumer products, manufacturing and, services and trading businesses.

With the new initiative, the group seeks to provide more than 60 support and care services to the NRIs and their families in India.

The services have been identified under four different verticals, healthcare, utility, personalised and relationship services.

The services will be provided from 249 centres across 197 cities through 3,500 relationship ambassadors. The group will cater to 25 million people of Indian origin residing abroad in 70 countries.

''There are nearly 25 million people of Indian origin settled across 70 countries and form the third largest diaspora. They remit the largest amount of 23 billion dollars to the country,'' Mr Datta said.

The company has tied up with Zicom, shaadi.com, Ferns n Petals, Archies, Aggarwal Packers and ''other firms which are the best in their respectives industries,'' Mr Datta said.

Sahara Care House services are currently available in the UK, Singapore and Malaysia. The company will soon be launching the services in the US and West Asia. It also has marketing offices in New Jersey, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Singapore.

Centre okays Salim Group's Rs 2,250 cr FDI for West Bengal

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Centre today cleared a Rs 2,250 crore (500 million dollar) foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal from the Indonesian-based Salim Group and Ciputra Groups for developing infrastructure projects including special economic zones (SEZs), townships and housing in West Bengal. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, at its meeting here, gave its approval to the New Kolkata International Development Pvt Ltd (NKID), set up by the two Indonesian groups, ''to make downstream investments in Indian companies developing.....

1 pc cut in Central Sales Tax from Apr 1

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The government today announced a one per cent cut in Central Sales Tax (CST), from 4 per cent to 3 per cent, as part of the measures to phase out CST under the new VAT regime. The cut will be applicable from April 1, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that gave the approval. All the states have joined the new VAT regime. Mr Dasmunsi said the Taxation Laws.....

No biz announcements during India visit: Wal-Mart

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The official entry of Wal-Mart in the Indian retail scene will take some more time as the world's largest retailer has said it will not make any business announcement during the India visit of its Vice Chairman Mike Duke. A spokesperson for the retail chain major today said the company was in ''preliminary talks'' with partner Bharti and the details of the back-end linkage and cash-and-carry format were still being discussed.
