Puducherry, Feb 22 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has urged the Planning Commission to grant Rs 333 crore to the Union Territory as a special allocation apart from the Rs 1455 crore annual plan allocation.
Local MP Prof M Ramadass, in a statement here today, said Puducherry Local Administration Minister Malladi Krishna Rao met him in New Delhi yesterday, On Mr Rao's request, he along with the minister met Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahulwalia, following which the demand was putforth to the commission.
Prof Ramadass said besides Mr Ahulwalia, they also met Mr Anwarun Hoda and Mr Sridhar of the Planning Commission and putforth the demand of Rs 140 crore for the development of local bodies, Rs 98 crore for tourism department and another Rs 98 crore for Yanam region for which the commission had agreed to consider.
