Nine members of a marriage party killed in jeep-truck collision

Jhajjar, Feb 22 (UNI) Nine members of a marriage party were killed when a jeep carrying them collided with a truck near Dulina village, five km from here, on the Jhajjar-Gurgaon road today.

Seven of the deceased were identified as Yashpal, Partham, Swrang and Om Parkash, Jaipal and Kirpal Singh, all from Uttar Pradesh, and driver Rakesh.

The bodies have been taken to the civil hospital here and will be handed over to their kith and kin after a postmortem examination.

The marriage party was returning to Kherki Majra in Gurgaon district after attending a marriage ceremony at Hissar. The truck driver is absconding.

Srinagar, Feb 22 (UNI) Militants killed two persons and injured three others while security forces arrested four ultras, including a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today. He said militants resorted to indiscrminate firing on a group of people at Damhal Khushipora in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night. The injured were admitted to hospital where one died, he said. He said militants kidnapped and later killed one Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh.....

Kashmir highway remains closed, passengers protest

Srinagar, Feb 22 (UNI) The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway remained closed for the second day today due to landslides and shooting stones. About 4,000 passengers have been stranded at different places on the highway. The stranded passengers at Ramban today staged a demonstration against the state government for failing to provide any shelter or relief and not making any arrangements for them. The highway, which connects the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, remained closed for traffic due.....

Srinagar, Feb 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Commission (HRC) has appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Srinagar to investigate into the disappearance of a youth from Shalimar since June 2002. The chairman of the HRC Justice M Y Kawoosa directed the ADC to submit the report within two months. The commission had received a written petition from one Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh that his son Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh, a driver, was missing since June 18,2002. He said Rafiq was last seen.....

Bikaner, Feb 22 (UNI) Three people, including a woman, were taken into custody here in connection with the blasts in Samjhauta Express. According to police sources, in a joint operation by Rajasthan police and Army Intelligence three people, including a woman, were taken into custody here last night.
