NE to witness 19 per cent growth in flights

Shillong, Feb 22 (UNI) Air traffic in northeast and eastern sector is all set to boom this summer with 19 per cent growth in flights.

The air traffic would increase all over the country and the country would get an additional 2,000 flights from March 26, official sources said here today.

The number of flights from the NE and east would increase from existing 1.034 to 1,129 each week, sources added.

The growth in the NE sector generally believed to be neglected one is next to that of southern and western sectors, official sources said.

Sources said the ministry was also working out on introduction of more smaller aircraft to link several towns of the region and expansion of airports in the region.

IBC Monitoring system in NE

Agartala, Feb 22 (UNI) The Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) has recommended that monitoring systems for various natural hazards in the North Eastern Region (NER) need to be modernised with installation of additional seismic stations, flood warning systems and GPS equipped with autonomic analysis and warning systems connected to major cities. The IBC which held its National Council and Chief Engineers meeting that concluded here recently has suggested guidelines on planning aspects for disaster management among the professionals in Northeast. Jharkhand MLA appears for matriculation exam

Ranchi, Feb 22 (UNI) Stung by the 'inferiority complex' tinged with an indomitable urge to set an example for others, a JMM MLA appeared for the matriculation examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council here.
