Minorities Commission to place its report in Budget Session

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Ninth Annual Report of the National Commission for Minorities, along with the Action Taken Memorandum for the year 2001-02, would be placed before both houses of Parliament during the forthcoming Budget Session.

The clearance was given at a meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today.

"This will meet the statutory requirement of Section 13 of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992," Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons here.

Cabinet nod to controversial Micro-finance Bill

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today approved the introduction in Parliament of the micro-finance Bill, aimed at facilitating the flow of micro financial services to the un-banked population of the country. New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) India and Turkey will soon sign an agreement enabling visa-free travel for diplomatic passport heders in each other's country. A meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today gave approval for signing the agreement. National Instruments Ltd to be closed down: Cabinet

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Centre today decided to close down National Instruments Ltd (NIL), Kolkata, after transferring all its 68 employees to Jadavpur University and meeting its liabilities amounting to over Rs 241 crore.
