Militants killed 2, injured 3 and top HM commander arrested in J

Srinagar, Feb 22 (UNI) Militants killed two persons and injured three others while security forces arrested four ultras, including a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today.

He said militants resorted to indiscrminate firing on a group of people at Damhal Khushipora in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night. The injured were admitted to hospital where one died, he said.

He said militants kidnapped and later killed one Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh at Wahipora in Pulwama.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Pulwama, Natish Kumar said police party on a tip off conducted search operation at Shopian this morning.

During the operation police arrested a HM commander Bashir Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Teldora, he said.

Wagay, active in the south Kashmir for the past six years, had crossed over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in 1990. He returned here through Poonch sector in 2000 after receiving arms training in different POK camps.

Wagay was wanted in a number of militancy related incidents in Shopian and Pulwama areas, Mr Kumar added.

Spokesman said security forces arrested three militants alongwith one ak rifle, three magzines, 26 rounds of ammunition and one pistol at Pattan in Baramulla district.

Two HM commanders among three killed, four ultras arrested in J

Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) Two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commanders were among three people killed while four militants were arrested and a large cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Jammu and Kashmir overnight. An official spokesperson said police and security forces launched a joint operation at Tankipora-Tarzoo, Sopore, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir district of Baramulla today. However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants opened fire. The fire was returned.....
