Militants kill jawan, two CRPF drowned

Imphal, Feb 22 (UNI) A jawan of 18 Assam Rifles was believed to be killed by suspected militants at Manipur's Chandel district today, police said.

Army officials were tightlipped about the matter and PIB (Defence Wing) said a detailed report of the incident had not been received yet.

Meanwhile, police said two CRPF jawans, who were on poll duty, drowned in Barak river at Jiribam near here yesterday.

Howrah, Feb 22 (UNI) The Officer-in-charge of Amta police station Rajiv Ranjan Singh was suspended today for dereliction of duty. Howrah Police Superintendent Niraj Singh said the OC was suspended after he was found guilty of not informing the higher officials on time about a scuffle between two families in Mullapara of Chandrapur village on Tuesday. The victim who was critically injured in the row was admitted to the SSKM hospital where she died yesterday. The Superintendent had also ordered.....

Mala Mahanadu urge CM to constitute Dalit committee

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) State Mala Mahanadu today urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to constitute a Dalit committee for their overall development in the state. Madhayamik examinee arrested for raping minor

Basirhat, Feb 22(UNI) A Madhayamik examinee was arrested from Nazat today for allegedly raping a minor girl. The accused, who was taking the Madhyamik examination at the Nazat Vidyamandir centre, was taken into custody on the basis of a FIR lodged by the parents of the victim, police said.
