IT department conducts raids in city and Thane

Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Income Tax (IT) department today conducted raids on offices and residential premises of prominent builders, estate agents, stock brokers and medical professionals in the metropolis.

The raids were conducted on 40 firms located at 100 places in the city and adjoining Thane district.

This is largest raid conducted by Income Tax officials in the city during last three years, IT sources said.

The raid began at around 0800 hours after the last 15-days exercise of making list of the tax defaulters.

Over 500 Income Tax officials and more than 200 Mumbai police were involved in this exercise.

New Indian-Bhutan Friendship Treaty enters into force

Godhra carnage investigator to hang his boots next month

Vadodara, Feb 22 (UNI) Noel Parmar, investigating officer (IO) in the Sabarmati train carnage case at Godhra in which 59 Kar sevaks were killed, might not opt to continue in the same capacity after being given three extensions till March 31.
