ISI man in custody of Kutch police

Bhuj, Feb 22 (UNI) The Kutch police today said it had in its custody an ISI agent, arrested in Lucknow, who had operated here for one-and-half years.

Addressing mediapersons here, DSP Gyanendra Mallik said two ISI agents were arrested by the Lucknow police during December 2006.

Adil Anzum Nazir Ahmed Bhatti (32) was arrested along with Abdul Sakoor Hafiz Abdul Rehman, both from Multan in Pakistan.

On interrogation by the Lucknow police, Adil, who was a teacher, revealed that he had lived in Kutch for over a year after being selected by the ISI to train an Indian agent.

During his stay in Bhuj, he had opened a bank account and also got passport made in the name of Haldarwa. He had collected information and pictures of Army's vehicle formation in the border Kutch area and of Kandla Port. These pictures he transmitted to his ISI coordinator in Pakistan who downloaded it. He had opened an email id 'reena@yahoo.com'.

He trained one Dhal Assalam here.

After training him, he went to Pakistan Embassy in Delhi but was refused visa for Pakistan on his fake name and was asked to come after seven days. Instead, he left for Lucknow where he was nabbed by the Lucknow police. On interrogation, he revealed his Bhuj connection.

The Kutch police today brought him here on a transfer warrant, Mr Mallik said, adding the original companion of Adil, Abdul Sakoor Hafiz is still in custody with Lucknow police.

However, Mr Mallik refused to admit that Dhal was in their custody. Sources said since an FIR wass yet to be filed against Dhal, it would be only after the process that Dhal's custody would be acknowledged.

Another bomb hoax in Surat

Surat, Feb 22 (UNI) The spate of bomb hoax calls continued unabated here with the the Surat Railway Police receiving another such call this evening. The railway police received an anonymous call saying a bomb had been planted at the railway station. A bomb disposal squad and a dog squad were immediately pressed into action. The station was thoroughly inspected but no suspicious objects were found. Despite the hoax call, all the trains were running on schedule, railway sources said. UNI.....

Explosives recovered from a train in Bihar

Munger, Feb 22 (UNI) Police today recovered five live bombs and explosives from a general coach of Upper India Express in Dhanauri station of Jamalpur-Kiul section under Maldah division of Eastern Railway. Rail Police Superintendent of Jamalpur Arvind Kumar said police swung into action as soon as passengers in the coach reported of an unclaimed gunny bag. Besides bombs and explosives, several students' identity cards were found in the bag, he said adding the matter was under investigation and none had.....
