Inspector suspended in Rorian shrine agitation case

Hoshiarpur, Feb 22 (UNI) An inspector has been suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty during the agitation by various organisations and residents of village Rorian following the incident of vandalism at a local shrine.

Talking to UNI here today, SSP, R N Dhoke, said Inspector Jaspal Singh, SHO, city police station, was not traceable on February 18, during the agitation of various organisations and residents of village Rorian following the incident of vandalism at a shrine.

Mr Kulwant Heer, DSP (H), tried to contact Inspector Jaspal Singh on his mobile phone several times but failed.

Singh had also sent an assistant sub-inspector to the residence of Shakuntal Devi at the village Rorian on the midnight of February 19 for rounding her up for her active participation in the agitation, the SSP said.

Departmental action would be initiated against Singh for this act, he added.

Panic grips hospital following a bomb scare

Karnal, Feb 22 (UNI) Panic gripped the civil hospital here today following information that a bomb has been planted in the hospital premises. Superintendent of Police Shibas Kaviraj said a letter to this effect was found pasted on the wall of the ramp leading to Gynaecology Ward of the hospital. Police immediately cordoned off the hospital and started a search with help of sniffer dogs to find the bomb. The search was still continuing. A bomb disposal squad has been also.....

Bhopal, Feb 22 (UNI) A local court today reserved until February 24 its ruling in a fake passports case in which underworld don Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi are accused. Chief Judicial Magistrate Raveendra Singh heard the conclusion of arguments on a defence application, submitted yesterday under Section 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code, urging conversion of witnesses into accused. Bus overturns, 15 hurt seriously

Kancheepuram, Feb 26 (UNI) A state-owned bus crashed into a barricade and overturned seriously, injuring 15 passengers, including seven women, at Madurantakam in the district early today. Police said the bus was proceeding to Tiruchirapalli from Chennai when the mishap occurred near the Madurantakam Bus Depot. The injured were shifted to the government hospital at Chengalpattu. The victims were proceeding to attend a relative's funeral. UNI.....
