Governor inaugurates painting exhibition

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today inagurated the painting exhibition on the theme 'Man's Relationship with Nature' at C P Ramaswamy Aiyar Art Centre here.

The three-day painting exhibition, organised by Delhi based artist Trilok Pal, was showcasing several water colour paintings.

These unique paintings, figurative in nature, showed the close relationship between the nature and man.

The 35-year old artist had won several prestigious awards such as Mukerjee Award of Fine Arts in 1999 and All India Fine Arts and Crafts Award in 2001.

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Legendary tabla player Kishan Maharaj, violin virtuoso T N Krishnan, Kathak danseuse Rohini Bhate and theatre personality Gursharan Singh were today conferred Sangeet Natak Akademi's ''Ratna'' (Fellows) by President APJ Abdul Kalam at a function here today.
