Food stall owner stabbed to death

Kolhapur, Feb 22 (UNI) A food-stall owner was stabbed to death in the Shahupuri area here this evening and two persons have been arrested in this connection.

The deceased has been identified as Nagesh Prabhakar Khamkar (35), a resident of the Rajampuri locality here, police inspector G P Dabade informed.

Police have arrested two brothers, Kadane brothers, in connection with the murder. The Kadane brothers also run a food-stall here, Mr Dabade said. Police suspect business rivalry to be the motive behind the crime.

Trucks collide; 3 killed

Nadiad, Feb 22 (UNI) Three persons were killed when two dumper trucks collided head on between Sevaliya and Dakor yesterday night. The two drivers and one passenger died as they were caught in the blazing fire that followed soon after the collision. The traffic was disrupted on the highway on Dakor Godhra road for a couple of hours. Fire brigade rushed to the spot. The deceased are Rajubhai Jasbhai Patel and Bhakabhai Vagehla(both drivers). 14-year old girl raped by neighbour

Surat, Feb 22 (UNI) A 14-year old girl was kidnapped and allegedly raped by a young neighbour at Kamrej last evening, Kapodra police said here today. Police said the youth, Ashok Sharma, who lived in a nearby house, approached the girl, a resident of Poonagam, and induced her to go to a farm near Kamrej area, where the culprit raped the girl and fled from the scene. The girl managed to reach her relatives house later in the evening and narrated.....

Congress suspends Sanjay Patil

Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Prabha Rau has suspended Sanjay Patil of Tasgaon District, Sangli, for anti-party activities. A release issued here by the party said there were several complaints about Mr Patil's anti-party activities which he did not stop despite being given the warnings. Sources said Patil had contested against deputy chief minister R R Patil in 2004 assembly elections as an independent candidate in Tasgaon. Later he joined Congress. UNI.....
